Some things I picked up :)

OK so over the past week or two I've picked up a few different products that I've never tried before to test out. Here's what I think of them!

Lacura Anti-Wrinkle Day Cream & Night Cream

I bought these from Aldi. For those of you who don't know what Aldi is, it's basically this really cheap store where you can buy everything from cosmetics to groceries. The prices for these creams differs from store to store, but in the one in my town, these cost between €2-€3 each (can't remember the exact prices).

What incredible value!! I will admit I was very sceptical at first, but I had read so many good reviews and they were so cheap I thought "why not give them a shot?" And I'm so glad I did.

These creams are so moisturising, and after only a few days of using them my skin is super soft! I am prone to dry skin, but the few patches I have on my face have improved a lot!
The day cream includes: Peptide complexand Coenzyme Q10 and on the box it said it had SPF 6 and is ideal for use as a makeup base.
The Night Cream includes: retinol complex and coenzyme Q10, which helps fight wrinkles and keeps your face nice and smooth. (yes I'm only 20, but it's good to start early ;])

You get 50ml in each jar and a little goes a long way. I am so pleasantly surprised by these, as are many beauty gurus online who have compared the range to Estée Lauder and Clinique. I'll definitely be repurchasing these :)
If you don't have an Aldi near you, you can find these products on eBay. The only downside may be the fact that they have a pretty strong smell (Especially the Day Cream) But this really doesn't bother me at all.

Fruit of the Earth Aloe Vera gel

I found this in a pharmacy in town and had to buy it. I did research into Aloe Vera a while ago and I am amazed by the amount of things you can use Aloe Vera for. I'm very accident prone, so if I get a cut, burn, or scrape of any kind this can cure it. It's been pretty hot here the past few days and I got a little sunburnt but this gel cooled down the burn and soothed it so much!
I'm also using it on my chin where I am prone to breakouts because aloe can be used to cure acne, and I'm already starting to see results! I also have very chapped lips but if I apply a bit of aloe vera to them it makes them lovely and smooth :)
I'm going to try to use it as a conditioner next and definitely look into what else I can use it for, make them most out of it :)
It cost me €9.95

Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer in the shade Fair

Oh my god, I LOVE this concealer!! I've tried Benefit, Mac and ELF concealers before and have never been too impressed with any, but this stuff is incredible. It makes my under eyes look so bright and helps me look so much more awake. It doesn't conceal blemishes completely but it certainly blends in well to make them a lot less noticeable. I had to get this picture from the internet, cos all the writing on mine has vanished, even though it;s only 2 weeks old!
It sent me back €6.50, worth every penny!

E.L.F Studio Cream Blush in Heartbreaker

I actually was sent this for free by e.l.f, because I won a competition on their blog :) Thanks e.l.f!
I love the consistency of this blush, it's very bouncy and soft, and it feels a lot like playdough. The packaging is super cute but a tad bulky.
The colour is quite versatile because you can add a little bit and blend it out for a lovely pinky tint, or you can build it up for a  really strong bright bold pink look. I use my fingers to apply a bit to my cheeks and then use my Stipple brush to blend it out. I wouldn't say it's my go-to blush (that would probably be Revlon) but I am really liking it and I'm going to experiment with it a lot more :)
It's worth €7.50

I also just bought an NYC Metro Quartet Eye Shadow in the shade Gothic Harlem but I haven't tried it yet as I've been busy the past few days and have been washing my brushes. Looking forward to trying it out though.

Songs I am obsessed with at the moment.

Welcome back, Kelly!
I much prefer this track to Mr. Know It All. It's so feel-good and poppy. It's a reminder to all girls that you don't need a man to make you happy. Loving her rock chick look & attitude in this video, too.

I AM SO EXCITED FOR THIS MOVIE.
I kind of hoped there'd be more clips from the movie in the video but meh, that doesn't matter.
I have pretty much listened this song to death by this stage. Words can't explain how much I love it. I think it's just perfect for the movie. Hauntingly beautiful. And look at Taylor! Barely any make up and she's still gorgeous :O

This song isn't exactly new,
but if you haven't heard it before, LISTEN to it. It will change your life.

Everyone has heard of Ed Sheeran by now.
He just won 2 BRIT awards, and this song was AMAZING when I saw him perform at the end of last year. His abum is amazing.

aaand my biggest obsession at the moment...

I can not big these girls up enough.
They are an all girl rock band, who actually ROCK. They can play their instruments well and write their own songs. And the most amazing thing? They're all aged 13-16. They're playing Soundwave at the moment alongside The Pretty Reckless, Mastadon & Angels & Airwaves. They recently opened for the Foo Fighters and amazed crowds who had already judged them based on appearance alone. That's what I love about these girls. You don't expect them to be THAT good, but then they start playing and blow you away. I've talked to them a few times before myself, and they are such sweethearts. Check them out.

This will always be my favourite moment from any awards show ever. It's like a real life movie moment. So cute considering they were dating at the time.

The 84th Academy Awards!

I'm so excited for this year's Oscars! I love movies, and the Oscars are definitely the best awards when it comes to the movies because it celebrates the best of the bunch. I'll definitely be tuning in!:)
Unfortunately I haven't seen a bunch of the movies nominated yet, but that'll be rectified soon :P

Best Picture
Nominees:
The Artist
The Descendants
Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close
The Help
Hugo
Midnight In Paris
Moneyball
The Tree Of Life
War Horse

Predictions: I Think The Artist, The Descendants, and The Help all have a really good chance to take the award for this one. My money is on The Artist though seeing as it won 7 awards at the BAFTAS and it's so original.

Actor In a Leading Role

Nominees:
Demián Bichir - A Better Life
George Clooney - The Descendants
Jean Dujardin - The Artist
Gary Oldman - Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy
Brad Pitt - Moneyball

Predictions: To be honest, I'm not too sure about this one. Reviewers have been raving about George Clooney's performance, but the Underdogs such as Demián Bichir and Jean Dujardin could very well surprise everyone and win.

Actress In a Leading Role

Nominees:
Glenn Close - Albert Nobbs
Viola Davis - The Help
Rooney Mara - The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo
Meryl Streep -  The Iron Lady
Michelle Williams - My Week With Marilyn

Predictions: Another tough one. I thought Rooney Mara's performance in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo was incredible, but she's up against legend Meryl Streep, who basically owns the oscars. Meryl obviously stands a good chance, but personally, I'd love to see Michelle Williams walk away with this award. She is immensely talented and underrated.

Actor In a Supporting Role

Nominees:
Kenneth Branagh - My Week With Marilyn
Jonah Hill - Moneyball
Nick Nolte - Warrior
Christopher Plummer - Beginners
Max Von Sydow - Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close

Predictions: My money is on Christopher Plummer.

Actress In a Supporting Role

Nominees:
Bérénice Bejo - The Artist
Jessica Chastain - The Help
Melissa McCarthy - Bridesmaids
Janet McTeer - Albert Nobbs

Predictions: I think this one will either go to Bérénice Bejo, or Octavia Spencer.

Animated Feature Film

Nominees:
A Cat in Paris
Chico & Rita
Kung Fu Panda 2
Puss in Boots
Rango

Predictions: This one is always pretty unpredictable, but I think Rango will win this category. Great movie.

The Artist
The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo
Hugo
The Tree Of Life
War Horse

Predictions: I'm gonna go with The Artist on this one!

Directing

Nominees:
The Artist - Michael Hazanavicius
The Descendants - Alexander Payne
Hugo - Martin Scorsese
Midnight In Paris - Woody Allen
The Tree Of Life - Terrence Malick

Predictions: I Think Martin Scorsese is a terrific director, so I'd like to see him win this one. However, The Artist is so original and and was a real surprise seeing as the cast & director were relatively newcomers, so it definitely has a good chance here too.

Documentary Feature

Nominees:
Hell and Back Again
If A Tree Falls: A Story of the Earth Liberation Front
Paradise Lost 3: Purgatory
Undefeated

Predictions: I don't have a clue! Must get around to watching these.

Documentary Short

Nominees:
The Barber of Birmingham: Foot Soldier of the Civil Rights Movement
God is the Bigger Elvis
Incident in New Baghdad
Saving Face
The Tsunami and the Cherry Blossom

Predictions: Not too sure about this one either, but I've heard great things about The Tsunami and the Cherry Blossom & Incident in Baghdad.

Film Editing

Nominees:
The Artist
The Descendants
The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo
Hugo
Moneyball

Predictions: I'm gonna go with either The Artist, Hugo or The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.

Foreign Language Film

Nominees:
Belgium, "Bullhead"
Canada, "Monsieur Lazhar"
Iran, "A Separation"
Israel, "Footnote"
Poland, "In Darkness"

Predictions: This category is really hard to predict, but I'd probably say A Separation.

Makeup

Nominees:
Albert Nobbs
Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows Part 2
The Iron Lady

Predictions: I'm going to go with The Iron Lady, seeing as it won the BAFTA.

The Artist
Hugo
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy
War Horse

Predictions: It's probably between The Artist and War Horse.

Music (Original Song

Nominees:
"Man Or Muppet" from The Muppets
"Real in Rio" From Rio

Predictions: I'm rooting for "Man Or Muppet".

Short Film (Animated)

Nominees:
Dimanche/Sunday
The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore
La Luna
A Morning Stroll
Wild Life

Predictions: The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore stands the best chance.

Nominees:
Pentecost
Raju
The Shore
Time Freak
Tuba Atlantic

Predictions: I think Raju might win this one.

Sound Editing

Nominees:
Drive
The Girl With The Dragon tattoo
Hugo
Transformers: Dark of the Moon
War Horse

Predictions: It's a close call between Drive and The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, but I really hope Drive wins!

Sound Mixing

Nominees:
The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo
Hugo
Moneyball
Transformers: Dark of the Moon
War Horse

Predictions: It's between The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, and Hugo. It'll probably be Hugo, though.

Nominees:
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2
Hugo
Real Steel
Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes
Transformers: Dark of the Moon

Predictions: It will most likely be Harry Potter.

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy

Predictions: I think Moneyball or The Descendants.

Writing (Original Screenplay)

So, There you have it! The Oscars will be Held February 26th and will be hosted by Billy Crystal!
If anyone actually reads this, tell me, who are you rooting for? Who do you think SHOULD have been nominated in certain categories?

Ariel (The Little Mermaid) tattoo.
I LOVE this tattoo idea.

A Walk To Remember

I watched this movie for the first time in years tonight, and cried like a baby.
Yeah, it's cheesy. But it's such a classic. Shane West's movie star looks and Mandy Moore's beautiful voice captivate you, and the chemistry between the two makes it so easy to watch.

If I had to rate it...I think I'd give it 3/5 stars.
I kind of feel like maybe that would be stretching it a bit, since the acting isn't amazing and it is incredibly cheesy, but I have such a huge soft spot for this movie.

Absolutely in love with her voice.
